We celebrated my birthday at home a few weeks ago — I am truly grateful for all the delicious goodies my family & friends sent over.
However, the seniors in our household are just not into drinking alcohol, while we, the “younger” crowd, imbibe occasionally, in moderation.
So, what to do? Well, I still wanted to have a celebratory feeling, with champagne flutes and toasts. It just doesn’t feel like a celebration without clinking glasses and blowing out candles on cakes, right?
I served this new drink from Welch’s. It’s Welch’s Sparkling Rosé.
Welch’s Sparkling Rosé is 100% non-alcholic, but it’s bubbly, it’s a pretty pink color, and it looks like pink champagne!
Serve it using flutes, and it feels like champagne, except without the alcohol. It’s delicious — it tastes lightly of grape, it’s fizzy, it’s not too sweet, and it has that satisfying, throat-tingling “hagod” that we always look for in original soft drinks.
It is perfect for those who want to join the celebration but can’t or choose not to drink any alcohol, such as pregnant women, breastfeeding moms, those with alcohol allergies, designated drivers, or those with personal / religious restrictions. I like it because I can happily enjoy it without worrying about getting a headache or a hangover.
I liked this so much that we opened up another bottle to chill out last weekend. Despite being on lockdown, there are still a lot of things to do. Chores pile up. We do home improvement projects. We clean a lot. We declutter. Even grocery shopping has become this big production where we need to disinfect every single item before it goes in the house. So the weekend is a very welcome time where I give myself a break. We are currently watching It’s Okay to Not Be Okay, and so far, it’s really good. It’s hard to say until we see the end, but so far, it’s been brilliant. 4 episodes to go!
