The Corner Market Food Hall

Last Thursday, the Corner Market Food Hall had its soft opening and we got to sample some of the delicious food that’s available there.

WHAT’S CORNER MARKET FOOD HALL?

It’s an upscale food court. It is located at the second floor of the Podium mall (new wing).

The shops include Sundays by Merry Moo (one of my favorite ice cream brands), Catch of the Day by Cold Storage (they grill Cold Storage products), there’s Birdhouse (chicken wings with original branch in Uptown Mall), Stockwell Cafe, Meat Depot, Ca Phe Saigon, The Rabbit Hole, etc…

The shops at the Corner Market have been curated – most of them are extensions of premium brands, so you can be confident of the quality of the food. Some of the other shops are popular destinations in their respective neighborhoods (Marikina, Makati, Quezon City, etc…) that are making a presence in the Ortigas area.

Here’s a quick tour of the Corner Market Food Hall so you can get an idea of what’s there. It’s only a 1 1/2 minute video 🙂

WHAT DID I LIKE?

I wasn’t able to try all the food, but of those that I was able to try, I liked Gusto!’s Sesame Kani Salad – the vegetables were really fresh.

Ca Phe Saigon’s Pho was also nice.

Other people didn’t seem to like the Salmon Skewers from Cold Storage, but I liked it – it was oily but in a good way – like eating salmon belly or bangus belly 🙂

The chocolate cake from The Rabbit Hole was dense, very chocolatey, and not too sweet. It’s really a stick-to-your-teeth kind of chocolate cake! It was something we really liked!

As for ice cream, Sundays serves some delicious soft serve ice creams – I was able to try the Horlicks and the Bailey’s flavors. Loved the Horlicks! Others thought the Horlicks flavor was too mild, but I liked it.

AMBIENCE & PRICING

The place is brightly-lit, the tables are spread out. There are some tables in the front area, and more tables at the back area. That way, it doesn’t get too noisy and not everyone is in one place. The back area tends to be more peaceful, in case you’re looking for some peace and quiet.

It’s also fully air-conditioned, which is especially important to me now that it’s summertime! 🙂

As for the food available – there are fresh salads, grilled meats, pasta, Japanese, Vietnamese, Korean, chicken wings, coffees, etc…

Prices average around P200-300 for the main dishes, budget more if you plan to get appetizers, drinks, dessert… there’s a lot of food to choose from, it’s going to be difficult to decide which to get that you might end up ordering everything you want to try!

It’s easy to get to if you’re shopping in Megamall, just cross the street (St. Francis) and enter the new Podium mall entrance along J. Vargas, go up the escalator and you’ll see Corner Market right away.
