Last weekend, I and some fellow foodies were invited to a bloggers’ event at Steak 77 along Tomas Morato. Steak 77 is located across from Tramway, with the gas station on one side and Santi’s on the other. There’s limited parking space in front.
It is a medium-sized restaurant with formal interiors, and it specializes in steak, as the name implies. The reason that it is called Steak 77 is because the address number is #77, well, at least that’s what we were told. I checked and the address was actually #66 Timog Ave. Hmmm….
We were given a roll and some orange butter and some chili butter to start. I liked the butters, it seemed like a nice beginning to what we expected to be a nice, good meal.
Here are some of the dishes:
Torched Norwegian Salmon (P950)
Scampi Creamy Pesto (P290):
Creamy Mushroom Fettucine (P580):
The dish that I liked the most was the Steak 77 Ribeye (P725 per 100g, this one is 320g and is P2,320). It doesn’t look that appetizing but once we ate a bite, it’s absolutely delicious! NIcely seasoned, no extra, unnecessary sauces, herbs or seasonings. Nothing to distract from the meat. This is the Steak 77 Ribeye:
The Classic Ribeye Steak (P695 per 100g / P2224 for 320g) is the one with the compound butter on top.
Classic Kagoshima Wagyu A5 Ribeye:
Although I was able to try the Classic Ribeye Steak, the Classic Kagoshima Wagyu A5 Ribeye (P1650 per 100g / P8,250 for 500g) and the US Angus Tomahawk (P725 per 100g / P3654 for 504g), I thought the Steak 77 was the most flavorful and best-seasoned.
SUMMARY
If you’re in the Timog area and you want to try somewhere new for a nice date, Steak 77 is an option. The Steak 77 Ribeye was the best dish that I tried during that event, and to be honest, the Steak 77 Ribeye was really very good. They did serve many dishes (16 dishes), but just one serving per dish – one regular-sized serving to be shared by about 15 people – so there just wasn’t enough to go around for everyone to try. I don’t think it would be fair for me to give my assessment of the dishes that I barely had half a bite of. The Steak 77 Ribeye was the only dish that made an impression on me.
The pasta dishes were good but ultimately, I thought the price (Creamy Mushroom Fettucine) was a bit high for what you’ll get. P580 for a pasta dish is steep, even if it has fresh mushrooms.
Service was attentive, although some of the staff were not yet very familiar with the dishes that they have.
