AirAsia, voted the world’s best low cost carrier for eight consecutive years by Skytrax, has tapped award-winning TV host and producer, Ms. Daphne Oseña-Paez, to create a web series showcasing some of Asia’s attractions, rich cultural heritage, and inside stories about AirAsia.
Red Talks with Daphne
The 6-part web series is called “Red Talks with Daphne” and will be available to watch on AirAsia’s Facebook page starting March 25, 2017.
I was invited to the launch and met Ms. Daphne. I got to talk to her when she signed my copy of her book, Chic, and she was so nice!
They started filming the web series about 3 weeks ago, and they’ve already finished 3 episodes. At the launch, we watched the first episode, called Destination: Dream, which was an interview with Tony Fernandes, the man who bought the failing airline for 1 Ringgit, turned AirAsia around, and made it the successful airline it is today. He is also the businessman behind Tune Hotels.
According to him, even though AirAsia is a budget airline, they still try to make sure that the cabin crew look the best that they can. Some of the cabin crew were there at the launch:
The 2nd episode, Destination: Fly, is an inside look on what it takes to be an AirAsia cabin crew. It’s not just serving coffee in the air!
The 3rd episode, Destination: Good, tells the story of the skilled silversmiths off Arkomjogja in Jogjakarta, Indonesia.
The 4th episode, Destination: Unity, talks about ASEAN and how AirAsia is making it easier to travel between ASEAN nations.
The 5th episode, Destination: Harmony, goes to Palawan and features pearl production (Jewelmer) and delves into the ongoing campaign to protect Palawan’s marine biodiversity through responsible eco-tourism.
The finale, Destination: Freedom, goes to Shanghai in a story of adventure, thrill, and excitement!
The webisodes are not too long, only around 10-20 minutes.
You can watch the episodes on AirAsia’s Facebook page. They will be available to watch beginning on March 25, 2017 and every other Saturday thereafter, at 7:00 PM, Manila time.
