How to Use the realme Night Light
The realme Night Light is actually easy to figure out.
The night light has 2 parts – the actual night light (the donut-shaped thing), and the base.
The night light and the base can be attached together thru magnets. It is very similar to the magnetic cellphone holders. This way, it is easy to remove the night light, take it wherever, and put it back.
You can also easily access the back of the night light in case you want to change the settings or want to replace the batteries. To open, just turn the back cover:
The settings to change the night light brightness is here:
The included realme alkaline batteries are supposed to last for 1 year of use though!
You can stick the base anywhere you want to place the night light.
Just insert the batteries in the correct position, and that’s it! The night light should start working.
The sensor is located in the front:
When the night light detects motion, it lights up, and the light lasts 15 seconds before turning off after it doesn’t detect any more movement.
realme Night Light Review
The realme Night Light is well-built. As expected from realme. It does not feel flimsy, compared to cheaper night lights we’ve had before.
The light is diffused – it is a soft, warm white, which is my preferred lighting color for good ambience. It is not glaring, it doesn’t hurt the eyes, but it is enough to light up a space so you can see.
I like that it is PORTABLE. For example, if I need to go to the kitchen for a glass of water, or go to the bathroom, or just want to go around the house to check if all the security is on, doors are locked, windows are closed, etc… it is very easy to just take the night light along wherever I go. There is no distance limit. I guess I’m just so used to using Bluetooth gadgets that I have unconsciously developed a sensitivity to how far I can go while using gadgets, haha. It is also not very heavy.
I put the night light beside the bed, making sure that it’s low enough so it won’t detect me when I’m moving in my sleep, but will only detect movement when I move to stand up. The motion detector is actually very responsive, and can even sense movement up to 8 ft away! It turns on when I open my bedroom door (bedroom lights are off), so I don’t need to turn on the bedroom lights in case I only need to do a quick thing in the bedroom like get my phone charger, or get my wallet and keys or something. The night light doesn’t turn on when it is bright or daytime.
I don’t know if this is waterproof. It probably isn’t. I am very happy with the night light that I am hoping that they will make an outdoor version! If the battery truly lasts up to a year, that would be so awesome! An outdoor version of this night light would be so good to use near the door / on the pathway to the door / along the sides of the house / in the garage, etc… so it will light up and make it safer when you get home at night, and alert you if there is unknown movement in an area. Putting up electric lights in these areas are quite difficult if they have not been planned during home construction, or if the areas don’t get enough sun to use solar, so an outdoor version of this night light would be really handy!
