What’s new at Racks?
Last weekend, we went to Greenhills because I wanted to sell my old phone while it still held some value. We decided to have lunch at Racks and try some of their new dishes.
RACKS Summer Menu!
The main items in the new summer menu are the Butterfly Spring Chickens. They are cooked 3 ways: Smoked, Grilled and Fried. These are whole spring chickens, and are served accompanied by sides.
- Hickory Smoked Spring Chicken with any large side
- Chimichurri Fried Spring Chicken with Fried French Beans
- Lemon-Garlic Grilled Spring Chicken with Curry Rice
Our server told me that they also have a la carte versions on weekdays.
We chose to try the Chimichurri Fried Spring Chicken. It had me at chimichurri! Chimichurri is one of my favorite sauces to drizzle over grilled food. Chimichurri is a sauce made of finely chopped herbs like parsley, minced garlic, olive oil, oregano and red wine vinegar.
This is a spring chicken, which is smaller than the usual chicken most people are used to, but more flavorful. It was fried Pinoy style. I enjoyed the aromatic chimichurri chicken – the herb marinade made it seem, to me, very summer-y 🙂
I also couldn’t resist the fried French beans! They had a very crispy coating, and I liked them more than French fries!
Of course, we had to order Racks’ classic Baby Ribs (half slab, P585)! It’s just impossible to go to Racks and not order some ribs 
For drinks, we ordered their refreshing Mocktails (P175). There are 3 flavors available:
- Mellow Watermelon
- Very Strawberry
- Classic Mojito
We got Mellow Watermelon and Very Strawberry:
And for dessert, we had tried the Ultimate Banana Split (P295)! This was good. Each of the bananas were covered in a crispy coating; there are 4 Magnolia ice cream scoops (choose any 4: vanilla, strawberry, avocado, kesong puti, pastillas).
SUMMARY
Our family’s favorite dish at Racks is their Baby Ribs, but the Butterfly Chimichurri Fried Spring Chicken is a welcome addition to a summer meal! It’s light on the palate, and has nice, crispy skin. The crispy-fried French beans that was served with it was something we couldn’t stop eating! Better than French fries, I tell ya 🙂
For dessert, definitely try the Ultimate Banana Split! We all agreed that it was delicious and a perfect end to our satisfying lunch!
