Here is the promised quick review of the make-up products that I got from recent sales!
1. Maybelline White Superfresh Powder Foundation in Natural (regular price P299.00, less 10% = P269.10)
Refills are only P199! And you remove the used pan by pushing through that hole in the back.
I used it once and only put on a thin layer over BB cream. It lasted around 2-3 hours while I was out and about in noon day Metro Manila heat, sweating profusely. It was unbelievable, a whole paper napkin would be soaked from my face sweat! So I guess that’s kind of okay. What came out of my pores was mostly sweat, and after blotting my face with a paper towel to absorb all the sweat, my makeup was still intact, so it was sort of able to control the oil. I don’t know about the whole 12-hour claim, but it lasted longer than other powders in similar conditions
I’m sure it will last longer in air-conditioned environments.
It has a faint flowery scent and the powder itself feels more talc-y (mas mapulbo) – I guess this is due to the oil-absorbing ingredient.
2. In2It Highlighter (Pearl Powder Bricks) in the shade Candy (regular price P550, less 15% was P467.75, less 10% = P421.00)
This needs to be used sparingly. Just a tiny amount is enough to highlight a big portion of my hand! You can “swirl” everything (which I did), or you can use the individual colors or any combination you like.
This is what you use (in combination with bronzer) to contour your face (hahaha, to make face look slimmer through the manipulation of light & shadow). Highlighters are usually used on the top part of the cheekbones, the bridge of the nose, the cupid’s bow (the V-shape on top of your lip), the chin, inner corner of the eye, and sometimes as eyeshadow if you’re feeling sparkly
3. Pond’s Age Miracle Deep Action Night Cream (regular price P699, less 25% was P524.00, less 10% = P471.60)
This is a thick, slightly pink cream with a nice floral fragrance. It absorbs well into the skin and gives a smooth finish (feels like dimethicone). I haven’t used it that much to be able to give a full review, but so far, I think it’s okay.
4. Maybelline Watershine Pure Lipstick in the shade MF21 (regular price P329, less P100 was P229, less 10% = P206.10)
5. Maybelline Bold Matte Lipstick in the shade MAT4 (regular price P399, less P100 was P299, less 10% = P269.10)
6. Pixy Lasting Matte Lipstick in the shade Be in Love (regular price P325, less 10% was P292.50, less 10% = P263.25)
The lipsticks apply sort of sheer. Those swatches took at least 3 swipes! My favorite color is still Pixy’s Be In Love, it’s just so dainty!
MAT4 is my first coral shade (finally!) and I really like it. I have been getting compliments when wearing it. It’s a classy, elegant coral shade that just screams sophistication. Good to wear for meetings and corporate affairs.
I bought the MF21 just because it looked really good on me It looks fun and flirty. I think it will work nicely for regular days, especially as the rainy season is approaching.
Of the 3 lipsticks, the first to come off was Pixy’s; both Maybelline lipsticks are long-lasting – even after using Pond’s Cold Cream twice, and several washings with hand soap, I can still see the swatches on my skin!
7. Shawill Eye Two Way Eyebrow Cake (regular price P128, less 10% = P115.20)
This is just one swipe each of the powder! The darker color on the left side of the case is the one used for the upper swatch, the lighter color on the right side of the case is the swatch at the bottom. It’s very pigmented, apply with a light hand. However, I like using powders because it doesn’t look as harsh and it’s easier to apply with the brush. The con is that they tend to disappear at the end of the day.
8. Shawill Eyeshadow & Blusher in 004 (regular price P195.00, less 10% = P175.50)
These swatches came from just one swipe! See how pigmented they are! They also feel very smooth and creamy. At P195, they’re a steal!
It comes with a peachy pink blush. It’s also pigmented, but not as strong as the eyeshadows.
Shawill is a local brand with “raw materials from Italy”. I think it’s great that local brands are able to turn out such quality products, and at such affordable prices! I don’t mind the cheap, plastic packaging as long as the products inside are good. It’s not like I do make-up in public and wave expensive make-up around as a status symbol, LOL!
Overall, I am very happy with my haul and I’m happier that I was able to get them at discounted prices!
