We visited the Pizza Express on the ground floor of Uptown Mall last week to try their latest offering – the bestseller international pizzas!

So each Pizza Express location (country) creates their own pizza that represents that country’s cuisine.

The Philippines branch of Pizza Express still hasn’t released its own flavor yet — although they told me that they are working on it 🙂

The 5 international flavors that will be available at Pizza Express Philippines branches until June 30 are:

Beef Rendang Classic from Indonesia

Laksa Romana from Singapore

Peking Duck Romana from China

Chili Crab Romana from Singapore

Chicken Satay Romana from Indonesia

So, are the pizzas actually any good?

Yes, they are! They really do evoke the flavors of the dishes they were inspired by.

I was able to try all the 5 flavors. My favorites are the Chicken Satay Romana and the Peking Duck Romana.

The most popular pizza of the 5 international favourites is the Chili Crab from Singapore – while I can take the heat, I’m just not too keen on it. I prefer the sweet/salty flavors of the Chicken Satay and the Peking Duck pizzas, but my sister loved the Chili Crab pizza I got for her.

For the Laksa pizza, we were told that they use laksa paste as a base for the pizza.

The Rendang pizza is smaller and has a thicker crust, and our host explained that the thicker crust was to keep the pizza from getting soggy – the Rendang pizza was more “saucy” than the other pizzas. The other pizzas had thin crusts. The Rendang pizza was probably the pizza I liked the least because I wanted it to have more rendang flavor than it had.

Another delicious discovery from this visit was Pizza Express’s Truffled Parmesan and Mushroom Dip! It’s a creamy cheese dip, flavored with truffles, and has sliced mushrooms mixed in. The bread served with it is also pretty good – light and fluffy! I can eat the whole thing by myself, and I plan to, on my next visit!

The pricing is on the higher side, though. It’s good pizza, but is it worth P400-700 for one pizza? The pizzas are flavorful, however, comparing them to the big box pizzas that we’re used to, the toppings here seem thin – but they’re delicious! Even now, two weeks later, I still think about those pizzas and plan to go back soon. So, of course, I am very happy to tell you that Pizza Express is currently on Zomato Gold and we can get 1 + 1 on FOOD! I don’t know how long they will be on Zomato Gold, so take the opportunity to use the 1+1 now while you can!
