This post is long overdue! A few weekends ago, we went to the Mall of Asia and I made it a point to try out this new place I heard about called Pie Face.
I had not read anything about the place except that it was a new imported chain, and, being, imported, I expected it to be a bit more expensive – but I was pleasantly surprised to see that their prices are quite reasonable, considering all the promos we were able to avail ourselves of.
Pie Face is a bakery chain from Australia. They make gourmet savoury and sweet pies baked fresh daily. Pie Face sells personal-sized pies. They have the premium small pies, and mini pies. The bigger pies (at the top) range from P99 to P130, while the mini pies are P49. They also have sweet mini pies at P45.
Pie Face had some ongoing promos that the staff told us about:
- Just upload a photo/selfie with any of Pie Face’s pastries on Instagram, tag @piefaceph and use #piefaceph, show the pic to the store manager, and you get a FREE PIE!
- Get a box of 12, you get a FREE bottle of Australian juice.
- Get 2 sets of a box of 9, you also get a FREE bottle of Australian juice.
- Get 2 premium pies (the big ones) and get FREE iced tea, or sweet mango pie, or Australian juice.
- Get a box of 5 premium pies, get a FREE bottle of Australian juice.
- They also have a 10% discount on all coffee products bwetween 7am-11am (valid until July 31, just ask for one of the cards they give out).
We went ahead and got a box of 12 minis to try because I wanted to be able to try all the flavors!
We ate 6 there and had the remaining 6 for take out.
How can you tell which pie is which? Good thing they handed me this guide:
Here are pictures of some of the mini pies:
I can’t remember what this is! Sorry 🙁 I think maybe it’s Steak, Bacon & Cheese?
The savoury pies are pretty good, especially when still warm! The pastry is flaky and smells sooooo good, the fillings are meaty and very flavorful.
I really thought the Steak, Bacon & Cheese would be my favorite flavor, but when I tried the Hickory Pulled Pork, wow. Delicious. The Hickory Pulled Pork was slightly sweet and tastes a bit like barbecue and it’s the best flavor of them all, in my opinion. I never expected to like the Hickory Pulled Pork so much, and I almost didn’t order it! Thank goodness I did!
The Mediterranean Chicken fooled me! I expected something with thyme, basil and rosemary, but it turned out to be chicken chunks in a tomato-based sauce. Still good, though. The Chunky Steak and the Philly Cheese Steak were also good.
Here’s a pic of the Philly Cheese Steak filling. As you can see, it has a lot of filling!
I much prefer the savoury pies over the sweet ones, but Pie Face’s sweet pies are also quite good. Here’s a look at some of them:
The first is Butterscotch, the other one is Mango. I like that the sweet pies have a bottom layer of the good stuff 🙂 they are topped with either a mousse or a cheesecake-like topping.
SUMMARY
Pie Face’s pies are very good, especially when served warm & toasty! Pricing is reasonable, and make sure to ask if they have any ongoing promos.
My only problem is that it’s located all the way in the Mall of Asia! It’s a bit too far away for me, and I really hope they open a branch nearer, like, maybe at SM Megamall or at Shangri-La.
But when I do find myself in the area, I will make sure to drop by Pie Face again, especially for their Hickory Pulled Pork!
