I have not explored the area of McKinley West. Sure, I’ve always passed through it – it’s the only way traffic flows heading south if you’re in that part of Lawton Avenue across from Upper McKinley Hill. So when the opportunity came up to have brunch there, I happily went to check out Perry’s and actually stay in McKinley West, and not just drive through it.
Perry’s just opened a few months ago, and is named after the owners’ family dog, a pug. It is located on the ground floor of the Telus building, in the balcony area, beside Anytime Fitness. Paid parking is available in the open parking area behind the Telus building.
When I first entered Perry’s, I was happy to see a cozy, chic, Parisienne style for the interiors. Perry’s is actually a tea salon where the owners want to share their passion for tea.
Here is the owner preparing tea for us. Perry’s has developed their own, simpler version of the tea ceremony so that customers won’t have to wait too long for their tea. This is the Chocolate Tea, which smells sweet and chocolatey, but doesn’t have the calories that chocolate has 🙂
While they have the classic tea blends, they also make their own tea blends, sourcing local ingredients as much as possible.
BRUNCH MENU & BRUNCH TEA SET
Perry’s recently launched their brunch menu. They have a Brunch Tea Set (P750) as well as brunch items with breads and eggs.
The Brunch Tea Set includes 2 trays of these amuse-bouche and tea. I liked the granola rounds, espresso truffles (very chocolatey), and the blinis (the tiny pancakes).
Baked Cheese Shoe Bowl (P195) – a shoe-shaped bread filled with cheese and tomato dip.
Scrambowl (P215) – scrambled egg fritata served in an egg bowl
Braised Pork Hash (P330) – delicious and sweet melt-in-your-mouth pork belly served with some crispy fried potatoes and fried egg
I also liked this Breakfast Sausage Roll (P260) that was topped with some truffle scrambled eggs.
FREE FLOW WINES & GIN CART
They offer unlimited rosé, wine, sangria and gin cart access, available all day.
- Sangria P475
- Red P499
- White P499
- Rosé P550
- Gin Cart P600
SUMMARY
Perry’s has pretty interiors and is located far enough from the madding crowd to make you feel that you’re a world away from stress and deadlines. If you’re into tea, Perry’s takes their tea seriously, and they are not as expensive as the other tea salon chain.
If you’d like to drink something else, they have the free flow wine offers. Perry’s is a nice place to unwind and catch up with friends.
I wasn’t able to try their mains because we were there for brunch, but the main entrees look very interesting and I look forward to trying them soon 🙂
