Dilraba, Yang Yang, Xiao Zhan and Yang Mi Are the New WeTV Global Ambassadors
WeTV, Tencent Video’s international video streaming platform, just revealed their four new global brand ambassadors – the super-talented and charismatic stars Dilraba, Xiao Zhan, Yang Mi, and Yang Yang.
There was a time when I had no idea who they were, but a crash immersion in C-drama land because of our current stay at home situation made me familiar with ALL of them!
Xiao Zhan shot to fame during the hit C-drama The Untamed. Do you know that he is actually a regular guy with a regular job before he got discovered? He didn’t go to acting school unlike many professional actors and actresses in China. But his acting was very good in The Untamed (that’s where I first watched him). He also stars in Duolo Continent (also on WeTV), I haven’t started on Duolo Continent yet.
If you haven’t seen The Untamed, you’re missing a lot! Although it’s BL, it’s not explicit or anything and it’s not romance per se, and you can just think of them as really good friends. Watch it for the story. There’s a reason it’s always at the top of must-watch C-drama lists!
Yang Mi is most famous for her role in Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms (a.k.a. Eternal Love, not to be confused with The Eternal Love). Dilraba Dilmurat (she is an Uighur Chinese, in case you wondered about her name) plays the second lead in Ten Miles of Peach Blossom. The second couple in Ten Miles of Peach Blossom aka Eternal Love, Dilraba and Vengo Gao, got a spin-off series that showed their love story – this series is called Eternal Love of Dream, which is on WeTV.
Yang Mi has an upcoming series (also on WeTV), She and Her Perfect Husband, where she plays a lawyer who suddenly finds herself needing to be married, who meets a guy who was also being forced by his mother to get married. The two end up hatching a plan to “get married” and, of course, eventually fall in love 😀
Yang Yang is popular for his roles in The King’s Avatar and Love O2O, both are series set in the gaming world. He is currently starring with Dilraba in the highly-anticipated You Are My Glory (also on WeTV, yay!). Dilraba plays a celebrity who got chosen to be the spokesmodel for an online game, BUT, she doesn’t know how to play! So she asks help from an aerospace engineer (played by Yang Yang) to teach her how to play. Oh, and this aerospace engineer used to be her high school crush who rejected her confession back in the day!
