Kumori, the Japanese bakery popular for its Cheese Tarts and Hanjuku Cheese, has opened for patrons in the south. There’s no need to go all the way to Makati to satisfy your cheesy cravings.
I was invited to the launch and got to try the different Kumori breads, cakes, and pastries. Let me share some of my favorites!
UBE HANJUKU CHEESE
So, what’s new? They have Ube Hanjuku Cheese! This new flavor is exclusively available at the Kumori SM MOA branch. It’s still delicious and fluffy and creamy, but now it’s ube-licious, too! The Ube Hanjuku Cheese (P48.00 each) will only be available at Kumori SM MoA for the following month, after which, it will be available in other Kumori branches as well.
The original Cheese and Chocolate Hanjuku Cheeses are also available. Eating these is like biting into clouds. These are very light, fluffy and pillow-y, not too sweet, mildly-flavored, but still very creamy.
Let’s take a look at the other baked goods available at Kumori SM Mall of Asia:
My favorite, their Signature Cheese Tart – very creamy. It has a crispy pie crust, and the filling is creamy but not too sweet, and not too cheesy. The cheese flavor is very mild, so people who don’t like the strong, funky European cheeses will appreciate this. It’s a very normal-tasting cheese filling, but delicious.
My new favorite, the Toyohashi Pudding (Original flavor). From now on, I can never pass by a Kumori branch without getting this pudding. The pudding is also available in Chocolate, Matcha, Strawberry and Mango. Each pudding is P98.00. The pudding that I tried (Original) was so creamy – tastes natural and doesn’t taste like flour or starch – just egg and cream. The original has a sweet caramel sauce at the bottom, similar to our local taho, but the pudding is so much creamier.

They also have whole cakes like this Karamel Crunch:
The Kumori SM Mall of Asia branch is located on the ground floor of the Main Mall, near H&M and Charles & Keith, somewhere near the carousel.
This is the first Kumori franchise, and the franchise is held by Miss Marycon (left).
Congratulations on the new branch!
If you’re malling at the SM Mall of Asia, drop by the newly opened Kumori branch and check out their yummy treats 🙂 I highly recommend the pudding!

I am so addicted to the Krone! Closest thing to authentic Sicilian Canolo I ever found in the Philippines.
Yup, it’s good, right? 🙂 Light, crispy shell, creamy custard filling. Yum!
