I’m not a theater person, but I want to at least try to develop some knowledge about it. Why? Many of my favorite classical music / songs came from theater, opera and Broadway. I don’t want to be a hypocrite and claim to like those songs without really appreciating where they come from, right? So I am making an effort to appreciate theater.
I still don’t go out of my way to watch theater, but when an opportunity to watch a nice one comes along, I really consider it. I was invited to watch this year’s run of Spamalot in April.
At first, I’m like, what’s Spamalot? Some Googling later, I am convinced that it’s going to be fun and hilarious.
MONTY PYTHON’S SPAMALOT
I am not sure if I have seen the Monty Python movies before. I might have when I was younger, I’m not really sure. So I’m going to have to find a copy and watch it.
Anyway, Spamalot is based on one of Monty Python’s movies called Monty Python and the Holy Grail. it is a highly irreverent parody of the Arthurian Legend, and has won various Tony Awards, and been nominated to the Tonys many times.
They had their first run in Manila last year, and it was a hit with critics. Even my sister has heard of Spamalot, so I’m probably such an ignorant person who hasn’t heard of it at all 😀 Here’s some more information about Spamalot (see below) and I’ll blog about it after I see it in April 🙂
There are only 10 shows of Spamalot, so if you’re interested, make sure to get your tickets now!
