Monga Fried Chicken officially opened its first Philippine branch last Wednesday!
It is located at the LGF of SM Megamall A, near Toy Kingdom. I attended the media preview last Tuesday, in case you’re wondering about the sign that says it’s opening soon. Monga is definitely open now and you should really take advantage of their BUY 1 TAKE 1 promos!
MONGA FRIED CHICKEN
Monga Fried Chicken is a Taiwanese fried chicken chain owned by Taiwanese celebrity / comedian Nono Chen, and already has more than 40 branches in Taiwan alone.
Their claim to fame is their Taiwanese-style fried chicken cutlets, which I immediately noticed are thicker than others I’ve tried.
Monga offers their fried chicken in three flavors:
- The King – salt & pepper seasoning
- The Taiker – Japanese sauce & seaweed powder
- Hot Chick – home-made chili powder

They also have the Cheez-E Signature (P209 single, P229 with rice), which is the same fried chicken cutlet, but is topped with your choice of tomato sauce or special chili sauce, and additionally topped with melted cheese!
I ordered the Taiker and Fries with Plum Powder, and Black Dragon Milk Tea:
The fried chicken is a big piece of whole chicken breast. It is mostly boneless until you reach one end that has the rib bones. I assume that the reason they don’t remove the bones is so that the chicken will keep its shape / not fall apart.
The breading was crisp and crunchy and not greasy 🙂 As you can see, my chicken was thick and juicy.
I liked the plum fries – it’s a different flavor. French fries but with a little fruity sourness to balance out the fried potatoes.

The staff has been recommending the chicken skin to me and it does look so tempting but I was thinking of my heart! Hahaha.
