Do you have a coffee addiction? Me, too! I swear, I will fall asleep if I don’t have my daily cup of caffeine.
I drink coffee everyday, and once you start drinking coffee that much, you start to develop a preference. Freshly brewed coffee is still the best! However, going to a coffee shop every day can be expensive so I’m always on the lookout for new products that enable my coffee habit without costing too much.
MISTER DONUT INTRODUCES DRIP COFFEE
So I was so happy when Mister Donut shared their new product with me. It’s a sealed, foil-packed bag of ground coffee that you can brew anytime, anywhere.
I’ve tried coffee bags before, those things that look like tea bags but have coffee inside instead of tea leaves. Mister Donut’s Drip Coffee is different because instead of dunking the entire bag into hot water to infuse, you slowly pour water over the coffee grounds, like a real “pour over coffee” experience.
Pourover coffee is the thing right now in the coffee world, at least in Manila. I’ve noticed many coffee shops have started offering pourover coffees, and they’re around P80-100 a cup. HOW TO MAKE MISTER DONUT DRIP COFFEE
This is what the package looks like, with instructions on the back:
Have your mug and hot water ready.
After opening the sachet, you’ll see the the coffee bag. There are paper board things on both sides of the coffee bag.
Follow the OPEN label and carefully tear open the coffee bag, following the perforated line. Be careful not to spill the coffee grounds.
Remember the paper things on both sides of the coffee bag? Gently pull out one side, and then the other side, again, be careful not to spill the coffee. The paper things open up and become, err… wings! LOL. I thought it was really fun. Now, position the coffee bag so that the paper “wings” attach to your coffee mug like so:
Slowly pour hot water over the coffee grounds. Don’t over pour. Just wait until the water drips down into your mug before adding more hot water. You’re supposed to pour 200 ml of hot water, but you can adjust that depending on how strong you want your coffee to be.
And voila! Coffee!
Mister Donut Drip Coffee Instructions:
- Tear open the packaging.
- Open the drip coffee sachet and get the drip coffee filter bag.
- Carefully tear along the dotted lines to open the top part of the drip coffee filter bag.
- Spread the hangers and place onto the coffee mug rim.
- Slowly pour hot water on the ground coffee. Wait for the water to pass through the filter before pouring hot water again.
- Continue pouring hot water until water in the mug already touches the lower tip of the drip bag. Stop pouring water.
- Drain the water in the coffee filter by lifting the hangers and let all the water pass through.
- Discard coffee filter bag after use.
- Enjoy your hot and fresh Mister Donut Drip Coffee.
REVIEW & SUMMARY
The coffee is very smooth and not acidic nor too bitter. It is a dark roast. For me, I tasted some slight smokiness and chocolate in the finish. It is good coffee that you can drink black or dress up with milk or sugar.
Once you’ve prepared this coffee a few times and learned to do some “extras” with it like adding frothy milk or making coffee blended drinks, it’s time to invite friends over for coffee! You don’t need to buy any expensive equipment to deck out your home coffee bar. You can even do latte art! There are many YouTube videos that teach how to make latte art even without any fancy equipment, and I’m planning to learn to do latte art myself before 2016 ends! 
For me, personally, I think it’s a great way to have good coffee when travelling! Bringing sachets of this drip coffee with me means I can have good coffee even when I’m staying at places that only have instant coffee available.
