MAYBELLINE FIT ME LAUNCH
Maybelline held a media launch yesterday at Sara Black Photography studio in Makati.
So, what’s all the fuss about the Fit Me! line of products?
If you are always trying to find the perfect fit but end up settling for the closest shade to ‘match’ your skin tone, settle no more! Find the perfect one for you as Maybelline Philippies brings in the FitMe! Matte + Poreless line which offers a wide range of shades that goes beyond matching skin tone. It also fits skin’s texture: your skin the way it is meant to be – fresh, breathing, and flawless.
“Most of the time, Filipinas are offered only about four foundation shades to choose from, which makes it a real challenge to find their perfect shade. As Fit Me comes in 10 shades to choose from, Filipinas can finally easily find their FIT. What is even more exciting is that the Fit Me line that we’re bringing in here offers a MATTE + PORELESS finish, which is suitable for the Filipina skin,” says Bianca Sing, Jr. Product Manager for Maybelline.
Fit Me is available in 4 different formats – the FitMe! Matte+Poreless Liquid Foundation, the FitMe! Foundation Stick, the FitMe! Pressed Powder, and the FitMe! Concealer. All of them are perfect for oily skin.

QUICK IMPRESSIONS
We had a chance to try the Maybelline Fit Me products during a quick makeover with Maybelline’s makeup artists.
My makeup artist removed the makeup I had on using Maybelline Micellar Water, and then applied the Fit Me Liquid Foundation with disposable sponges. She said that my shade was 120. While I have relatively light skin, I don’t consider myself to have the fairest skin. I know a lot of people who are lighter skinned than I am, so I was surprised that I matched with the lightest shade. Keep in mind that summer just ended and I’m darker than usual because of it. In other makeup lines, I usually match with the second to the lightest shade.
On first application, the color seemed to match really well with my shoulder/arm color. Good. The foundation feels light and looks natural. It is matte but doesn’t look flat. I don’t look like a ghost or a person with a mask. I like using a damp beauty blender sponge to apply liquid foundation, I’m sure it will look even better.
The problem is, I’m what they call “acidic”, and after 6 hours, I noticed that my makeup had oxidized and looked darker with an orange tint. My skin still looked good, pores barely visible, except that it was just a bit darker. I am actually not sure which one oxidized – the powder or the liquid foundation, because there where parts of my skin like under my lips near my chin where it did not oxidize. My forehead was definitely orange-y. Other than that, I think it is a good liquid foundation for everyday use, especially if you are not “acidic”. It looks very natural, fresh, not flat, it feels light on the skin but also provides a fair amount of coverage.
If you are acidic, maybe consider getting a lighter shade so after it oxidizes, it will match your skin tone. I hope they bring in lighter shades for people with skin tone like me since I’m already at 120 and it’s still not light enough if you factor in oxidation.
Update 6/11/2017: I used the Fit Me liquid foundation yesterday (Saturday) and it didn’t oxidize at all. I put it on after lunch, went to an event, went to the mall, watched a movie, and when I got home by 2am, my makeup still looked pretty good! No oxidation at all. I applied it myself, and I only used the Fit Me liquid foundation, Fit Me concealer and Fit Me pressed powder for face products to test. No primer, no setting spray. I also used eyebrow products, contouring and highlight products, blush and lipstick, but that’s it.
So, what was the difference between yesterday and during the makeover when my makeup oxidized? During the makeover, the makeup artist just removed my makeup with micellar water and then started applying liquid foundation with dry disposable sponges. I also had a little sun exposure since it was sunny. As for yesterday, I started with a clean face and only applied a tiny bit of moisturizer. I applied the Fit Me liquid foundation with a damp beauty blender, applied concealer, blended with the damp beauty blender, set with the Fit Me pressed powder, and went over the powdered face with the damp beauty blender again to press everything in place. Then eyebrows, contour, blush, highlight. That’s it. The makeup actually started to look better an hour or so after it was applied. It looked like it was a part of the skin, very natural-looking, even after 10 hours. My skin flaws like redness and spots were still covered! It was also rainy yesterday so I had very little sun exposure. I’m actually very happy with Fit Me now after seeing the results yesterday, and plan on using it more often. It is the most natural-looking foundation I have tried. It looks like I just have great skin, perfect for the natural, no-makeup look! The shade 120 is really just perfect for me, it did not oxidize this time. Will try it more and update you.

For the price of P399, you can get a lot of mileage from it without spending a small fortune, just be careful when pouring out the liquid foundation so you only get what you need. The glass bottle does not have a pump, so there’s a tendency to pour out too much foundation. With that said, the packaging actually looks great for a P399 liquid foundation. The price is actually on the affordable side when it comes to liquid foundations, even for imported “branded” drugstore brands.
