Someone is going to London!
Last Monday, October 16, five finalists battled it out to win Costa Coffee’s #SingYourWayToLondon contest!
The finalists were handpicked from their fun video entries singing a British song of their choice. I was invited to witness the fun performances – we had Adele, the Spice Girls, Coldplay, and Rita Ora!
The competition was originally inspired by vlogger Vince Vandorpe, after he impressed Costa Coffee baristas by singing a British classic at the counter, and winning a free cup of coffee in the process.
Soon after, Costa Coffee launched a search calling for people to send in a video of them singing a British song.
The finalists performed their songs at the Costa Coffee Galleria branch in front of the judges and fans. Here are the 5 finalists:
Jyl Orila
Inna Valera
Maqui Castelo
Maki Santos
Pia Alfonso
Costa fans packed the Costa Coffee Robinsons Galleria branch to show their support. The judging criteria includes voice and presentation skills, audience response, and adherence to the British theme. The judges were: social media influencer David Guison, singer siblings Kiana and Paolo Valenciano, and Atty. Gilbert Millado, the General Counsel of Robinsons Retail Holdings, Inc.
In the end, there can only be one winner, and it was Jyl Orila, who sang Adele’s Send My Love (To Your New Lover), who’s going to London! She’s bringing her mom with her to London. That is so exciting! Imagine visiting Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London, Harrod’s, Notting Hill, etc… Even I was so touched for her when she had tears of joy running from her eyes when she was announced as the winner.
Congratulations, Jyl! She won an all-expenses paid trip to London, as well as other prizes.
Thanks to these contestants and Costa Coffee, I now have a British invasion playlist on my Spotify! I’m also LSS-sing on Adele!
