Last weekend, I attended the launch of Love Beauty and Planet’s Summer Collections of hair and body products.
What is Love Beauty and Planet?
Love Beauty and Planet is Unilever’s premium skincare brand that is also good for the planet. Their products are vegan, not tested on animals, and use ethically sourced ingredients. They also do not contain parabens or silicones. The bottles are made from recycled plastic.
Love Beauty and Planet originally started with 3 variants:
- Argan Oil and Lavender (violet)
- Murumuru Butter and Rose (pink)
- Tea Tree Oil and Vetiver (green)
Last weekend, they just launched their summer variants:
- Coconut Water and Mimosa Flower (blue)
- Coconut Oil and Ylang Ylang (yellow)
The coconut and ylang ylang ingredients they use are sourced from the Philippines 🙂 I was able to smell most of the variants and they all smell really great!
QUICK REVIEW
I chose to get the Coconut OIl and Ylang Ylang variant because I like the smell of Ylang Ylang. I got a shampoo, conditioner and body wash. I actually wanted to get the body lotion instead but they did not have body lotion available for the Ylang Ylang variant.
LBP’s products all definitely smell amazing! I have used my LBP Ylang Ylang products twice now, here are my thoughts.
- I love, love love the scent! It doesn’t have a chemical smell. It just smells naturally fragrant.
- The first time I used it, I used A LOT of conditioner. The conditioner isn’t as thick and didn’t stick to my hair the way I’m used to with other conditioners, so I added more. I don’t know, maybe because it was my first time to use it and my hair needed a lot of conditioning. The plus side of this was that my hair still smelled amazing even after 24 hours!
- The second day I used this, I didn’t use as much conditioner as I did the day before. My hair still smelled great, but the smell wasn’t as strong. But, even after cooking lunch, my hair did not smell like food and still smelled like the shampoo / conditioner 🙂
- The first time I used the shampoo, my hair felt different while lathering with the shampoo – not the soft hair feeling I get using my regular shampoo. However, on my second use, my hair felt softer now. Maybe my hair was just getting used to the natural ingredients.
- As for the fast-rinsing claim, I agree it rinses off more easily than other conditioners. I thought even the shampoo rinses off easier.
- After two uses, I noticed a change in my hair – my hair feels less frizzy and more moisturized, as if I had applied a tiny, tiny amount of coconut oil on it. 🙂 I will continue to use my LBP products and I’m sure my hair will feel better after every use 🙂
- If there is one thing that they can improve on, is that I hope they’d put the conditioner in a pump bottle instead. 🙂 The conditioner is difficult to squeeze out of the bottle. The shampoo and body wash come out fine but I had some trouble getting the conditioner out, it was like getting ketchup out of a ketchup bottle.
I really like the scents and that, plus trying to do my part to be more eco-friendly, are my main reasons for liking Love Beauty and Planet 🙂 #SmallActsofSummerLove The products do what they are supposed to, as expected, and you don’t unnecessarily expose yourself to things like parabens and silicones.

The shampoos, conditioners and body lotions are P390 (400ml). The body wash is P290 (400ml). They are available at select Watsons branches and e-commerce stores (Lazada, Shopee).
