I’ve been looking for an accessible and reasonably priced liquid lipstick that stays on all day despite all my eating, and I think I’ve found it!
L’OREAL INFALLIBLE PRO-MATTE LIQUID LIPSTICK REVIEW
So, while I was checking out the Watsons Holiday gift sets last month at SM MoA, I took the opportunity to try the L’Oreal Les Chocolats lipsticks that almost all the beauty gurus have been talking about recently.
I actually took such a long time swatching the available testers, but unfortunately, I wasn’t feeling most of the lipstick colors. I could make them work, but they looked off with my skin tone. So I finally decided to do a wear test using the shade Truffa Mania and wore it to dinner. I don’t mind using lipsticks testers, I just try to wipe them with a tissue before & after using and ask for alcohol spray to sanitize, the counter girls usually have alcohol spray and tissue available. Using testers has saved me from a lot of bad purchases. You can also try to ask for cotton buds to use if you don’t like to use the tester wand to apply the lipstick.
The lipstick was a little sticky when first applied but after about 10-20 minutes, it dries down and becomes less sticky. There is still a slight stickiness but it’s barely noticeable.
It was definitely a very noticeable shade on me. I’d wear it if I was in a Gothy mood, but it’s too noticeable for everyday wear, and people were commenting about my lipstick because it’s like the first thing they noticed.

We had dinner at Paradise Dynasty in S Maison – of course, I ordered my favorite colorful xiao long bao set, one set per person because I always eat them in order. We also ordered some sweet & sour pork. For rice, I intended to order a Yang Chow, but I did not notice that I marked the wrong box and actually ordered the Shanghai Style fried rice. I also ordered my other favorite dish from Paradise Dynasty, and that is their La Mien with Dan Dan Sauce, or dandan noodles, for short. For dessert, the Charcoal Custard Lava Bun! We also got some of the charcoal custard buns for take out because bilin talaga that we get take out for family members at home. It’s their favorite. 🙂
The Shanghai fried rice was a good mistake! I actually really liked it and I wouldn’t have thought to order it ever if it wasn’t for this serendipitous mistake.
The Dandan noodles is hands down my favorite dish at Paradise Dynasty. It’s very peanut-buttery, sweet, salty, spicy, with a thick peanut sauce. It doesn’t have any meat, so I usually have to order another meat dish and have everything to share.
So, you see, all the food we had for dinner was lip-smacking good and had oil! Don’t forget that we had noodles! I ate like a normal person really enjoying the food. I forgot all about the lipstick.
At the end of the meal, I just thought to check my lipstick. I was expecting the lipstick in the middle part of the lips to have faded, which usually happens with all other “long-lasting” lipsticks that I have tried. So imagine my amazement when I checked my lips and all the lipstick was still there! No fading. That’s unbelievable!
What’s more, after eating, it lost the sticky feeling. It felt very lightweight on the lips, and it wasn’t drying on the lips. It felt very natural – I was still somewhat aware that I had the lipstick on, but for the most part, I barely noticed it.
I was so impressed that after dinner, instead of going home, I walked all the way back to the Watsons at SM MoA just to buy the lipstick! I really wanted to get something from the Les Chocolats line because they smelled so good, but I just couldn’t find a shade for me. Volupto Choco doesn’t look like it will pop on my skin tone, either. In the end, I just bought the shade Cowboy from the original Infallible Pro-Matte Liquid Lipsticks set because it looks more wearable for every day. Price: P390.

So I’ve used Cowboy several times since then, and it really lasts through several meals – it survives from lunch to dinner, with merienda in between! If there is any lipstick that is removed, it is very little, and mostly on the very inner center part of my lips that isn’t even that visible. There is no transfer, meaning after it dries down, you can touch your lips to mugs and cups and it won’t leave any lipstick mark. As for smell, the lipstick smells sweet, like marshmallows and ice cream.
I wore it yesterday morning, and this is what it looks like after I got home after eating at LUNCH and DINNER events. No retouch. Ako lanta na, yung buhok ko lanta na din, pero yung lipstick buhay pa 😀 It’s starting to look slightly patchy and faded but generally, the color is still there.
This pic isn’t very clear but you can see that the lipstick is still there for the most part. Only the very center parts of the lips lost the lipstick.
One thing to note is that the L’Oreal Infallible Pro Matte Liquid Lipsticks dry darker than what they look like upon first application. For Truffa Mania, it looks like a dark red on L’Oreal’s marketing pictures, but in reality it’s a very dark brown.
I am so happy with this lipstick that I’ve been telling all my friends about it. And during the recent Shopee 11.11 Sale, I was able to buy another shade called Stirred for only P273 (orig price is P390)! I have not swatched this shade so I’m only guessing but I feel like it would suit me. *Note: I bought it on 11.11 night time, 11.14 na and it’s still on “To Ship” status, meaning the seller has not yet shipped out my order. Tagal naman, excited na ako…
*Note: As I’m writing this blog post and looking at the pics, I’m starting to really like Truffa Mania. I wish I had bought it during the 11.11 sale! Regrets. It’s on my To-Buy list now at the next opportunity / sale.
SUMMARY
I am really impressed with this lipstick, to the point where I want to switch over to using only these L’Oreal Infallible liquid lipsticks because this means I never have to reapply lipstick the whole day! I never have to worry about getting the clown lipstick look where only the edge of my lips have lipstick because the middle parts have all gone after eating. The only problems are the limited shades and how difficult it is to take off.
How difficult is it to take off? Very, very difficult. Don’t even try it unless you have a real honest-to-goodness eye and lips makeup remover. Micellar water just isn’t enough to remove it.
I would use this on days when I will be meeting people at events and want my lipstick to stay put even after a meal, when I usually don’t have time to reapply before people want to start taking group photos. For casual days when I’ll just be doing errands, I’ll still use regular lipstick because I can easily reapply if I need to, and I won’t have a hard time removing the lipstick at night 🙂
Is is worth the money? Yes! More so when you can get it on sale! It’s so convenient – apply once and never have to worry about it again the whole day! This means using less of the product than normal because there’s no need to keep reapplying the whole day. I also like the applicator that makes it easy to shape the lipstick on my lips.
