L’OREAL INFALLIBLE LONG-WEAR MAKEUP

L’Oreal’s Infallible line has been a popular “hoard” of Filipinas this side of the Pacific since it came out in the US. I have heard of people buying these in the US, or asking for them for pasalubong, and ordering them online, just to get their hands on them. It is well-known in the beauty community as a long-wearing makeup range.

Why is it so popular? Because it works! One beauty blogger told me that she wore this while travelling in Hong Kong, with all the walking, and even in hot & humid Singapore, and she swears the L’Oreal Infallible did not melt off.

I received some samples last week, and I tested them this week. Now, my current HG (holy grail) foundation is the L’Oreal True Match Liquid Foundation, the one in the pump glass bottle, so trying the newer L’Oreal Infallible was not a big deal since I’m already a L’Oreal fan.

I got the shade 120 (Vanilla). I was worried it was going to be too light for me, but once it’s blended on the skin, it looks very natural. It was easy to apply. It is full coverage if you build it up, but if applied with a damp beauty blender sponge, I would say it’s about medium coverage.

Shades:

It sets quickly so I felt like I had to work fast to blend, but once it’s blended on to the skin, it sticks to the skin – I mean, I like it because I don’t think I will rub it off by accident if I apply concealer, bronzer, blush or powder.

It does feel lightweight. It was very comfortable on my face. It didn’t feel heavy or cakey.

Does it last? I put on my makeup at around 10 AM, set with the L’Oreal INFALLIBLE Pro-Matte Powder and Setting Spray, Lipstick is Persistent Plum:

I walked around BGC at around 12 noon. It was full parking everywhere and I was meeting friends for lunch, so I had to park far away. I walked under the noon day sun to the restaurant and back. This is me at 4 PM, after lunch & coffee, walking back to the car. I was sweating, but the makeup is still intact! I only retouched my lipstick after lunch.

I blotted with some tissue, and there was no foundation transfer to the tissue! After blotting off the oils and sweat on my face, my makeup still looked fresh.

During the L’Oreal INFALLIBLE Launch later that day, I got a makeover from one of L’Oreal’s professional makeup artists. She just put another layer of foundation on top of what I already had, and it still looked nice, right? I guess it was easy to retouch, even on top of setting spray.

Then today, I had somewhere to go at 10 AM, again, I was wearing L’Oreal Infallible, but on the way home in the afternoon, I went through some pretty intense heat / no aircon. Would give hell a run for its money, that kind of hot. When I got home around 3 PM, I checked my makeup, and it was still mostly intact, although the foundation seemed to have oxidized (turned orange). Any other makeup would have melted if it had gone through what it did. BUT, I FORGOT TO APPLY THE SETTING SPRAY because I was in a hurry to leave. If I had applied the setting spray, I think it would have fared better. So, L’Oreal INFALLIBLE for me, still passed if we talk about staying power. It only oxidized due to the really intense heat that it was subjected to. For normal office wear, I think it would last all day, but I think using the SETTING SPRAY with it will make a big difference and prevent it from oxidizing.

L'Oreal Infallible Foundation After — Sorry, I did not take a BEFORE picture. I basically had the same makeup as yesterday, except I used a lip gloss instead of a lipstick. This is what happens without setting spray. Look how orange my face is compared to my neck.

There, I really look harrassed! My hair is wet from sweat, but after blotting with tissue, the foundation is still mostly intact. The blush, bronzer, etc have all gone… No retouching at all since I put the makeup on at around 9 AM. Picture was taken at almost 4 PM.

The lipsticks have a nice, sweet, berry candy / chocolate smell.

I like this lipstick! The sticks are not too creamy so they keep their shape, but glide on very smoothly. They are also not oily. Lately, I have been having trouble with some lipsticks being too soft that the whole stick breaks off or starts leaning to one side when I’m applying lipstick.

I have never found a lipstick that was truly food-proof, unless I was really careful with how I ate my food and how I chewed. Wearing this to lunch, I still ended up with color remaining on the edges of my lips, and no more color in the main, center part of my lips. However, it is fade-proof, still looking intense 3 hours later, as long as I don’t eat. All the other claims like how it glides easily on the lips, how it is non-drying, are all true.

This is what my lips look like after eating 2 rounds of Unli Wagyu:

I was wearing Resilient Raisin. I still needed to fix my lipstick after eating, but I am impressed that the outer lip area lipstick stayed.

The only problem I have with these lipsticks are the packaging, because removing those plastic stickers leave this sticky residue:

INFALLIBLE PRO-MATTE 16HR Powder

Claims:

absorbs excess oil and reduces shine on the skin’s surface for up to 16 hours

Shades:

I use this to set my foundation, and it’s true, it doesn’t cake. At first, I tried applying it using the included sponge (there’s a mirror and a sponge under the powder), it applied a bit thick, but it did not cake. I changed to applying it with a brush. There is also almost no fall-out when using a brush.

This is my first ever setting spray! I like it. Spraying it on my face felt like spraying spray net to lock my makeup in place, except without the sticky residues. And it works!
