Hello ๐ How are you all doing? I can’t believe it’s been so long since I last wrote a blog post!
I was getting burnt out and summer was here, and we were all put on community quarantine, so I took the opportunity to get some rest.
We all deal with the crisis in our own ways. I am grateful that I am able to ride this out without too much trouble. I try to look at the bright side of things, and the silver lining for me was that I was able to take the time to recharge.
It’s nice to wake up and have the day free to do whatever you please (within ECQ guidelines, anyway). No obligations, no to-do’s always hanging over my head. It felt like summer vacation, in a way.
I watched a lot of Netflix, tried new recipes, baked, sent some food over to friends, relatives and frontliners, played with my cats… and of course, used the time to do some home projects, too.
Now that our quarantine is coming to an end, it’s time to get back to regular programming. I will be sharing some of the projects and recipes that I did during ECQ, as well as tips that I have compiled for home, shopping, and dealing with our “new normal”. There are also a few things that I have not gotten around to blogging, which I also promise to blog soon now that I am fully recharged and ready to blog again ๐
How did you deal with the Community Quarantine?
One shocking thing for me was that I turned into a K-drama watcher! Who would’ve thought?
I would watch k-drama once in a while but I didn’t really look for it. Also, for the past 1-2 years, I’ve dropped a lot of US TV shows. Not intentionally, but there just wasn’t anything interesting anymore. And I started to dislike the “weekly” episode releases. I ended up binge-watching a lot of older TV shows and didn’t even realize that I stopped watching any current US TV show altogether.
The timing of Crash Landing on You just before lockdown got me started on a k-drama watching spree. I like that k-dramas are generally 16-20 episodes. This makes them not drag out too long. They are also generally conservative, so I don’t have any problems watching them in the living room, hahaha. You all know my issue with “racy” scenes while watching TV in “public”, right? It’s mortifying that other family members might see it, or neighbors might hear, and the help might gossip that I am watching “bold” hahaha. Generally, I never had this issue with k-dramas, which is a relief.
So far, I have finished:
- Crash Landing on You
- Descendants of the Sun
- Legend of the Blue Sea
- My Love from the Star
- Rooftop Prince
- Love in the Moonlight / Moonlight Drawn By Clouds
- Goblin
- My Girlfriend is a Gumiho
- I am not a Robot
- A Korean Odyssey
- Touch Your Heart
- Rookie Historian
- What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim
There are a few k-dramas that I dropped in the middle because they weren’t as good.
I’d love to hear how you dealt with being forced to stay at home!
Did you try to be productive, or did you just want to take a rest and enjoy the pause? Either way is okay. We all have our own needs and how we respond to them ๐ No judgement here! Please feel free to share in the comments!
