Get an extra 10% off on all your purchases inside SM Dept Store on if you shop BEFORE 12NN on the FIRST DAY of the sale:
1. Scope out the things you want to buy days before the sale.
If you have time, a few days before the sale, go to the SM Dept. Store and check out the items. If there is something you want to buy, ask the sales staff if the things you want to buy will be on sale, try out the clothes/shoes, etc.. and make sure you know the color and size you want. This is important! You don’t want to be wasting time trying on different sizes during the actual sale (remember, you only have 2-3 hours to get everything so you can avail of the extra 10% off). If possible, ask the sales staff to reserve the item for you. Get their name and cellphone number and look for them when you come back on Sale Day.
Make a list! Write it all down!
2. Be there early!
SM usually has an early bird +10% off everything if you buy on the first day of the sale, before 12nn, if you have an SM Advantage or BDO Rewards card. This is awesome, because, imagine getting something at 50% off, and getting an additional 10% off at checkout! Regular price items also get 10% off. As far as I know, this only applies to SM Dept. Stores.
3. Bring someone else along so you can take turns waiting in line at the cashier, while the other person shops
Self-explanatory. You don’t need to start waiting in line as early as 9am, however, lines usually start forming around 11am. Try to be in line by that time. Sometimes lines at the cashier can be really long so it’s better to be in line earlier. In case you aren’t able to make it to the cashier before 12nn, don’t fret. Just make sure that you are already in line around 11:45am so you’ll be in place when they start distributing the stubs. These are the stubs they give people who are already in line before the 12nn cut-off. So even if you aren’t able to pay before 12nn, the cashiers will honor the stub and give you the extra 10% off anyway.
4. Bring something to do while waiting in line.
Talk to your companion, surf on your phone/tablet, read a book, get some work done, etc… while waiting in line. Sometimes, it can take a while. Once, I was in line from 11:30am and only reached the cashier at 1:30pm, and only because SM management got involved and sent someone to take us to another SM cashier outside the SM Dept. Store. If SM hadn’t intervened, I reckon we could have been in that line until 3pm.
UPDATE:
I almost forgot about the free parking!
There’s usually a booth somewhere at the SM Mall where you can present your receipt worth at least P1,000 and claim a free parking ticket. You can’t use the free parking on the day, as I recall, but you can use it when you come back to the mall within 2 weeks.
