We stayed at the Henann Garden Resort during my short trip to Boracay last week.
My room was booked by our travel organizer so I am not sure how much it cost, but checking Traveloka, the Premier room was around P5,800+.
HENANN GARDEN RESORT BORACAY
We used the hotel’s transfer service that picked us up from the airport and took us to the hotel (and back to the airport). I talk about it in more detail in my previous blog post.
The entire trip from the airport to the hotel and back to the airport went off without any problems, and was quicker and better organized than I expected. The Henann Group of Resorts had their own shuttle, waiting “shed”, and their own speedboat. The roundtrip transfer service costs P1,475/person.
The resort entrance is located in a narrow alley with construction going on on both sides of the road. Other hotels and buildings were being built beside it. The entrance was just a plain hotel door with no majestic ramp or anything, so I assumed that the hotel would be small. However, upon entering, I noticed that the lobby was big and spacious, and I could see a more spacious courtyard beyond it.
The resort is nice, clean, well-maintained, spacious. It feels very self-contained, like you don’t have to leave! They have rooms that have access to smaller pools, and then they have a larger pool further back. I love the cabanas and I wish that I had stayed longer so I could take advantage of them ๐
I don’t know if it’s because it’s a weekday or it’s the off-season, but the resort wasn’t crowded. I knew there were many guests because I saw them at the breakfast buffet, but they seemed to all be out during the day ๐
THE ROOM
I stayed at a Premier room on the second floor with a lovely view of the pools and cabanas. A tour of the room is included in my video here.
The room was spacious and had all the standard amenities and toiletries. They even provide umbrellas for guest to use!
The minibar / refrigerator was empty but I didn’t mind. I rarely get anything from the minibar, anyway. They did provide 2 complimentary bottles of water.
The aircon was cold (you can adjust it via the remote control). This was just a great room for the price. You can easily have 3-5 guests sharing the room because of the extra bed. However, the bathroom has the see-through glass window again (I don’t know why this is a thing!) so that’s something to take note of if you’re conscious about bathroom privacy. There’s a blind you can pull down to cover the glass. On the plus side, the bathroom has a tub!
I was very happy with the room overall. The only thing that bothered me about this room was that the actual bedsheet seemed a bit rough, but I’ll live.
The room also has a balcony with a chair and table, and a drying rack on the side, which I thought went the extra mile so that guests have somewhere to dry their wet clothes ๐
WIFI
The hotel provides free wifi but the wifi was a bit weak in my room. It was better out in the common areas like the lobby and the buffet breakfast area. As for download speed, it was only around 2 Mbps – not great but it will do the job. I was able to watch an episode on Netflix on their wifi before going to sleep. My mobile internet was also not as fast as I am used to getting here in Manila, so maybe it’s a Boracay thing.
ACCESS TO THE BEACH
Henann Garden Resort is a 5-minute walk away from the beach (maybe 2 minutes if you’re a fast walker). From the hotel entrance, turn right and keep walking down the access road until you reach the beach.
BUFFET BREAKFAST
The buffet breakfast is located at the cafe near the back of the resort. They have the usual breads, cereals, rice, eggs, soft and crispy bacon, adobo, tocino, etc… They also have yogurt, fruit, juices, etc…
As far as buffet breakfasts go, the spread is plentiful and has good variety. They do have a no-leftover policy, which is fine by me.
My only issue is with their coffee, which I found too weak and watery. At first, we assumed that it was tea, but no, it was coffee.
SUMMARY
Overall, I am very happy with this hotel. If you want to stay inside the resort, it’s fine. If you want to go to the beach, it’s just an easy few minutes’ walk away.
The resort is beautifully landscaped and feels very Zen-tropical. The facilities that I tried all worked well, the staff were friendly and helpful, checking in and out was efficient. The resort seemed “new” so I did a quick Google search and learned that they had just reopened a week prior to my visit after complying with government requirements.
As for the hotel rates, I thought they were very reasonable, especially if you will be sharing the room with family/friends. I am not sure if it’s because they just reopened or if this is their regular rate. P5,800+ will only get you a regular small room in a standard hotel in Manila that might not even be as relaxing as Henann Garden.
