It’s no secret that I’ve been watching a lot of C-dramas because I felt like I have run out of K-dramas that look interesting. For my C-drama fix, I’ve been watching them on WeTV 🙂
What is WeTV?
In case you still don’t know what WeTV is (apparently, many people still don’t know what it is), it is a streaming service that has some K-drama, but most of its content is C-drama.
You can download the WeTV app on iOs and Android, and also on Android TV. It also works with Android TV boxes and Android TV sticks.
Advantages of Getting a VIP Subscription
No Ads! This is really the only reason for me to get a VIP subscription. I really can’t stand the ad interruptions when watching my TV series! I mean, if I’m watching 30-60 episode series, every unnecessary second I can shave off is important! The time I save is worth the price of VIP.
There are also other advantages to a VIP subscription, too – like being able to watch some episodes in advance. I was really able to take advantage of this when I was watching Legend of Fei – I was able to watch 2 episodes in advance 🙂
What I Like About WeTV
Well, for one, it is much less expensive than other streaming services. I also like that its TV app can be installed on any Android TV, unlike the other K-drama streaming app that can only be installed on selected Korean brand TV models.
Also, IT SAVES TIME. For most of the C-dramas on WeTV, the app automatically skips the start and end credits. So when one episode reaches the end (before the ending song), there’s no need to watch the ending song and to watch clips from the next ep. The app SKIPS IT! It automatically skips to the next ep, SKIPPING the opening song of the next ep and skipping any recaps. Let’s face it, if you are binge-watching a series, you really don’t need to watch those. This saves me a lot of time so this is my favorite feature of the WeTV TV app.
I also like that it includes some bonus clips like behind-the-scenes clips and short actor interviews of some C-dramas.
The shows are also very clear – HD quality. I had initially thought that the video quality might be poor, but no, the video quality is actually HD.
How to Get WeTV VIP via Globe

How to subscribe to WeTV:
Step 1
Text the keyword of your choice to 8080.
Step 2
You’ll receive a voucher code via SMS.
Step 3
Log in to your WeTV account and click ME at the lower right side of the screen. Make sure your mobile number is linked to your account.
Step 4
Click JOIN VIP/MY VIP and click REDEEM VIP at the bottom of the screen, enter your VIP code and click to verify. Wait for the verification code to be sent to your number.
Step 5
Enter the verification code in the field provided and click REDEEM NOW.
Step 6
Enter the redemption code then click Redeem to get the corresponding VIP days.

Aside from the popular K-dramas like What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim, Legend of the Blue Sea, Descendants of the Sun, Her Private Life, etc… that are on WeTV, here are other series that you might want to check out:
- Eternal Love – this series is so popular that it is now up to Season 3 (same couple as Season 1, continuation of the story). This star-crossed couple manages to find each other time and again across lifetimes, defying fate. The complete Season 1 and Season 2 are already on WeTV. Season 3 is now also on WeTV, new episodes are up Mondays to Wednesdays at 8PM.
- The Penthouse (K-drama) – the lead actress here won the recent Baeksang Awards. Word is she’s really good – she even ate a SIM card! The story was, for the shoot, they were supposed to make a fake SIM card made from bubble gum or something, but it wasn’t finished on time, so the lead actress ate and chewed a real SIM card instead. Talk about dedication!
- Beyong Evil (K-drama) – this is another K-drama that garnered a lot of awards during the recent Baeksang Awards. Seeing it win so many awards and seeing how so many people say that it’s well-deserved made me interested in watching this soon.
- My Girlfriend is an Alien – the title sounds corny, but it’s one of the C-dramas that had us laughing out loud. Don’t think too much about it, just enjoy the fun. It’s just a light & funny rom-com where the girl is from a planet and she is obsessed with male abs 😉
- The Untamed / The Untamed Special Edition – this C-drama has always been in the #1 spot on almost all C-drama lists I’ve seen! I haven’t gotten round to watching it yet, but it’s on my list! This is a bromance about two men (martial artists) who see themselves as soulmates.
- Eternal Love of Dream – this is a spin-off of the most popular C-drama ever, Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms (also known as Eternal Love – take note that this is a different C-drama than The Eternal Love). I recommend watching Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms / Eternal Love first. Personally I like Peach Blossoms better than Eternal Love of Dream. Eternal Love of Dream is about the story of the 2nd couple in Peach Blossoms. Sadly, Peach Blossoms is currently not on WeTV.
- My Little Happiness – this is one of my friend’s favorite modern C-dramas. This is just a lighthearted romance series that isn’t very stressful to watch. Watch this if you just want something light & easy.
- Ashes of Love – this series has also always been in the top recommended C-dramas list. Some people like it, some people don’t. I’m one of those who didn’t like how the story went, but many people seem to love it very much.
- Go Go Squid / Go Go Squid 2 Appledog’s Time / Love O2O– modern romance where some of the main characters are experts / famous in the gaming community
