A couple of weeks ago, I got these these SeaKing Wild Alaskan Salmon packs to try.
After Googling for some inspiration, I whipped up this delicious yet very easy garlic honey butter salmon dinner. There’s no special ingredient, technique or appliance required – most of these ingredients you most likely already have at home ๐
SEAKING WILD ALAKSAN SALMON
The SeaKing Wild Alaskan Salmon are natural and wild. These are not farmed salmon. Fish in the wild eat a natural diet and tend to be slightly lower in saturated fat than farm-raised varieties.
SeaKing Wild Alaskan Salmon comes in 3 cuts:
- Pink Salmon Steak
- Keta Salmon Slab
- Keta Salmon Chunks
For this recipe, I chose to use the Keta Salmon Slab because it is one whole slab of salmon meat with no bones.
Each pack has one slab, and what I like about this one is that the slabs are individually packed. After thawing, I noticed that the salmon slabs had very little “liquid” that came out from the meat. This is a good thing because this means that the salmon was not injected with water before freezing to make it heavier. You only get the natural salmon meat.
The salmon skin has also already been de-scaled so that’s one less messy thing for me to do! The salmon skin has no more scales, yay!
GARLIC HONEY BUTTER SALMON RECIPE
Ingredients:
- 3 packs SeaKing Wild Alaskan Salmon Salmon Slab
- Lemon or calamansi juice, to taste
- Butter, it depends on how much sauce you want ๐ The more the merrier, hahaha
- Honey, to taste
- Minced Garlic, about 1 tablespoon
- Salt & Pepper
- Parsley (or use parsley flakes)
After removing the salmon slabs from the packs, I just rinsed them and then salted them with a bit of salt. Then I poured and rubbed in about 1/2 tablespoon of lemon juice for each slab. I let them marinate for a few minutes while I prepped my other ingredients.
In a non-stick pan, I melted the butter on low heat and let it brown a little.
Next, I added the garlic. Again, all this is happening on low heat so that the garlic and the butter don’t burn.
I added the SeaKing Salmon Slabs, meat side down because I wanted the meat side to brown more.
After about a minute (salmon cooks fast), I turned the salmon slabs to cook the skin side.
Add honey, add lemon juice (or calamansi juice). I didn’t have any fresh lemon on hand, so I just used a commercial one. If you have fresh lemon juice, that would be best ๐
The butter sauce now has the flavors of garlic, sweetness from honey, and a little sourness from the lemon juice. We need to add some salt & pepper to balance the tastes. Blend in the butter, honey, lemon juice, and salt & pepper into the sauce as best as you can.
I also added some parsley flakes – mostly for decorative purposes but it also adds a little something extra to the taste ๐
Turn off the heat. The salmon should already be cooked by now.
I took a video, you may watch it here:
Here’s the finished Garlic Honey Butter Salmonย ๐ Everyone loved it! If your family members looooove honey butter sauce, you might think about making more sauce because everyone wanted more sauce ๐
