Last Christmas, I received the Etude House Lash Perm Curl Fix Mascara. It comes with an eyelash curler and is packed in a round metal tin.
I still had my old mascaras, so I hadn’t tried this new one yet, but I had an event to go to tonight, so I got all dressed up and thought why not try this new mascara?
And boy, did this mascara survive the night!
ETUDE HOUSE LASH PERM CURL FIX MASCARA
I didn’t have time to do winged liner, and regular eyeliner just melt off of my eyelids, so I went without any eyeliner, curled my lashes, and just swiped this mascara onto my eyelashes.
The Eyelash Curler
The Etude House eyelash curler is amazing! I have several brands of eyelash curlers and they all pinch. This one from Etude House DOES. NOT. PINCH. AT. ALL.
I don’t know why it doesn’t pinch. I tried comparing it to my Shu Uemura and they kind of look the same shape. But the Etude House one doesn’t pinch, it follows my eye shape, and it is able to grab almost all of my eyelashes, except for those on the outer end of my eyes.
The Etude House eyelash curler is also more stable. The handles have a rubber grip that make it easier to hold, and the scissors screw of the Etude House one is tighter, so when I close the curler, it feels solid, not jangly like the other pure metal eyelash curlers.
The Lash Perm Curl Fix Mascara
With the first swipe on my eyelashes, my eyelashes were suddenly long and very visible! I only did one coat. I tried to do another coat, but the mascara had already dried on my lashes and I was in a hurry. I only did my upper lashes.
My lashes are almost invisible if I don’t wear any mascara. Take a look at the picture. I missed some eyelashes because I was in a hurry, so you can see the difference between the lashes with mascara and those without:
I took the pictures after I got home from my event, and the mascara is still very much intact, with almost no fall out, except for those tiny little specs you see on the picture. The whole night, there was no aircon. Since it’s coding day of the car I regularly use, I used our older car with the busted aircon. After the horrendous Manila traffic in sauna-like conditions, when I got to the event, their parking was full, so I had to park at another lot and stand and wait around for the venue’s shuttle. When I finally arrived at the event, I had assumed it would be indoors, but it was held outdoors in the garden. Then it’s the same thing going back home. The point is, after all of that, the Etude House Lash Perm Curl Fix Mascara held the curl, did not fall out, and still looks good. Other mascaras would be smudging all over the place already with all the sweating I did.
The mascara has a smell that kind of reminds me of a swimming pool. It’s not really unpleasant and it doesn’t bother me, but it is noticeable if you smell the mascara contents.
The Wand
I love the wand! This is the first time I have seen this kind of mascara wand. It has 2 sides – one side is to keep the lashes from clumping, and the other side is to help your lashes curl.
The wand makes the mascara easy to apply, and side 1 really coats every lash but prevents clumping, but work quickly. I took my time applying my first coat using side 1 and side 2, and by the time I wanted to go back for a second coat, the mascara had already set.
I don’t know if it’s the wand or the mascara formula, or both, but my lashes have never looked this long with ordinary mascara. I usually only achieve this kind of length with duo type mascaras, or mascaras with fiber.
SUMMARY
I am very impressed with the Etude House Lash Perm Curl Fix Mascara. It volumizes, lengthens, and holds a curl! It’s also probably the most sweat-proof mascara I have ever tried.
The eyelash curler is also amazing! It is just perfect for my eye shape, it fits my eye perfectly, but your eye shape may be different, so your mileage may vary.
Price: I received this as a gift, but the mascara itself is priced at P848 according to beauty gurus. If you wear mascara a lot but also get sweaty throughout your work day, or just basically want your mascara to survive Metro Manila heat & humidity, this mascara is worth every peso It also makes lashes look very long!
