Have you heard of Caffe Bene? It’s one of the big Korean coffee shop chains, and it’s now in the Philippines!

They actually already have several branches – Eastwood Citywalk 2, SMX Convention Center (MoA), SM City Clark, G/F Multinational Bancorp Center Valero Access Road in Makati, and SM BF Paranaque.

I was invited to the Eastwood branch last week. I love the ambience – I would describe it as book lover meets cute Korean. It feels like a spacious European-style library cafe with some cute Korean touches. If you’ve seen the Koreanovela Secret Garden, the coffee shop where they shot some of the scenes is Caffe Bene!

One thing that makes them different from other coffee chains is that they serve gelato!

CAFFE BENE PARTNERS WITH BISCOFF

If you haven’t been living in a cave somewhere, I’m sure you’ve heard of Lotus Biscoff, of the cookie butter craze a couple of years ago. The good news is that Lotus Biscoff is now available in the country – no need to buy it abroad, wait for balikbayan boxes, or buy from resellers. The small 125g pack is around P55, I think.

Lotus Biscoff biscuits are what the Lotus Biscoff Spread is made of. Lotus Biscoff is known as “Europe’s favorite cookie with coffee”. I am not a fan of biscuits because I usually find them dry, boring and floury, but not Biscoff! I really like Biscoff – it is crunchy without being dry, and we know how much I love my caramel flavor – it reminds me of really good gingersnap cookies, but without the ginger.

It’s actually great with coffee! I’m dunking a Lotus Biscoff into my afternoon coffee right now  It doesn’t disintegrate while dunking, and the Biscoff and the coffee together just enhances each other’s flavors – the caramel of the Biscoff is more pronounced, and the aroma of the coffee stands out more. Trivia: the name Biscoff is actually combined from biscuit and coffee!
