A couple of weeks ago, I was browsing at Watsons when a lady approached me and handed me these sample packs of Bifesta Cleansing Lotion.

At first, I didn’t even know what it was and even considered refusing her, but she was insistent so I took the samples. What a good thing that turned out to be!

BIFESTA CLEANSING LOTION (Sebum) Cotton Wipes

Bifesta Cleansing Lotion (Sebum) turned out to be a make-up remover. It says you just wipe off makeup with it, and that THERE IS NO NEED TO WASH YOUR FACE AGAIN WITH A FOAM CLEANSER!

At first, I didn’t know whether or not to believe it. One reason I rarely wear makeup, even if I do enjoy putting makeup on, is because 1) it melts off in this tropical heat after a few hours outdoors, and, 2) removing makeup takes extra effort!

Makeup removers I have used have always been oil-based. Waterproof eyeliner and mascara are the most difficult ones to remove. Just when I think I’ve removed them all, a few seconds later, I still find some left, leaving me with raccoon eyes. Some also sting my eyes.

One of the BB creams I use (Skin79, the gold one) also needs to be thoroughly removed, or else, it has a tendency to give me pimples.

The point is, after removing my makeup with makeup remover, I still need to wash my face with something like a foam cleanser to remove all that oil! Sometimes, I have to wash my face twice with the foam cleanser! Then, sometimes I even follow up with a toner or an astringent just to make sure I got everything off, and to make sure I don’t get pimples. Eskinol + Dalacin C is my magic potion!

Then super moisturize to the max afterwards.

I can’t imagine doing this every day to my facial skin, that’s why I only wear makeup on special occasions.

REVIEW

A few days later, I attended an event and made an effort to look presentable.

I wore smokey eyes, with gel liner and mascara, and also did some cream-based contouring with my newly bought Maybelline Contour duo stick (It was P100 OFF at Maybelline at the time, so I took advantage and bought it for only P399 instead of P499). I didn’t use waterproof mascara because I wanted to use up my non-waterproof ones.

Okay, it was time to take it all off! I remembered the Bifesta samples and thought I’d give them a try.

The pack is easy to tear open even without scissors, and contains two cotton pads soaked in the cleansing solution:

I first noticed that the cotton pads were really wet with the cleansing solution. The cleansing solution was a bit similar to water – it was not oily, nor was it acidic/astringent. It did not sting my skin nor my eyes. There’s no noticeably strong smell, except it smelled slightly like bread. It is really very similar to water, but it’s not water.

I used up two wipes since I wore a lot of makeup.

RESULTS

It’s true! After wiping my face clean with the Bifesta cotton pads, there was no hint of oiliness at all! I felt like I didn’t even need to wash with a foam cleanser afterwards. Just touching my face, I could feel that all the makeup was removed and that there was no residue left, and there was no “dry” or tight feeling! I just washed my face with some water just to make sure that everything is rinsed off, and that’s it!

My face felt clean but not dry.

As usual, I still had to pay attention to under my eyes, because, waterproof eyeliner. But I didn’t feel like I was going to end up with eye wrinkles in a few years, because the formula was non-drying. And since the Bifesta cotton pads were really wet, I didn’t need to tug at my skin to remove any makeup.

Another time, I was just curious. So after I removed my makeup with the Bifesta cotton pads, I ran a cotton ball with a bit of astringent just to see if any makeup was left. The cotton ball with astringent was clean! No hint of makeup left on my face!

SUMMARY

I currently have no idea how much this costs. I’d have to check at Watson’s next time I’m there. I googled and found some reviews by local beauty bloggers, and they said the price was around P400+ for a bottle, but this was a few years ago.

So this product has been out in the market for a few years already and this is the first time I’ve heard of it. I am so out of the loop in the makeup world!

Anyway, this is a great product! I really like these “sample” packs. I think they will be great for travel. If the price turns out to be reasonable, I would totally buy a few packs to use while traveling! I normally don’t do makeup while traveling, but I feel like I want to na. Late bloomer eh.  Also, as a blogger, sometimes I’m expected to take pictures of myself. Eek! hahaha. I’m shy, but looking presentable helps.

I am also planning to get a bottle of this after I use up my current makeup removers.
