MY RECOMMENDATIONS
Last week, we were treated to a 2-day Food Run by Zomato, The Bistro Group and Citibank, where we got to try some of the dishes on promo!
All the dishes we tried from all of these restaurants were good, but there were just too many dishes for me to enumerate here. Here are my favorites and recommendations:
Krazy Garlik – I was surprised by Krazy Garlik. I never paid it any attention before, but surprise, surprise – it was one of my favorite restaurants of the food run! The presentation of the appetizers on smoking boxes was beautiful, the food itself was very good, too. Their Amazing Krazy Garlik Salad was delicious, sweet, sour and nutty with sesame dressing.
Watami – Japanese restaurant are usually expensive, so imagine my delight when I sampled the delicious salads at Watami and checked the prices. The Watami Salad is only P145, while the Caesar Salad with Teriyaki Chicken and Hot Spring Egg is only P155. Couple that with Citibank’s 30% OFF promo, and it becomes even more affordable! Generally, Watami’s prices for other dishes are also quite reasonable.
Modern Shanghai – Xiao Long Bao, Shrimp Hakaw, and their sublime Steamed Buns with Preserved Egg Yolk Paste at 30% OFF? DIMSUM LOVERS must not let this opportunity pass without taking advantage of it!
I will make the effort to visit Modern Shanghai again if only for the Steamed Buns with Preserved Egg Yolk Paste (P158), which is the stuff food dreams are made of. IF YOU REMEMBER ANYTHING FROM THIS POST, IT IS THAT YOU MUST EAT THIS STEAMED BUN WITH EGG YOLK PASTE! It starts off as your typical dessert siopao bun, but when you bite into it, you get a burst of creamy, yellow, salted egg yolk sauce. Heaven!
The other restaurants were also quite good, and if you’ve been meaning to try them out, take this opportunity to do so!

Steamed Buns!!!!!! <3
Sarap no? Even if it’s way too hot! Must remember to let it cool a bit before eating! Haha, kelan ka babalik? Ako probably this weekend! 😀
I also thought Watami prices were high. Interesting discovery that they’re not that expensive. oh, I must check out Modern Shanghai for their dimsum. Chinese food lover here. 🙂
Yes, Watami needs to promote to people more about how they are not that expensive. The food is actually pretty good, too. Good quality Japanese food at only slightly higher (I’d guess around 15%) than Japanese fastfood chain restaurant prices.
Definitely try the egg buns! Haha, wait for them to cool a little before eating. I almost burned my tongue, it was still so hot. 🙂
